Love all of my Champion Extreme spinning rods, I have a 702,743 and this 764. I reach for the 764 most of the time, the extra length helps in casting and it will fish finesse baits and heavier applications without a hitch. I live in upstate NY and use it for throwing swimbaits for Smallmouth and then it’s in my hand most of the time fishing in Florida, I fish a lot of heavy cover there and this rod has the power to deal with fish in the heavy grass. I’m proud to have the Dobyns rod lineup in my boat that I have, and I add a couple more each season.

Yes for sure Paul Mueller video from November.2012 hit the nail on the head ! Big smallmouth , Large mouth, and Walleye this rod covers so many techniques for all three species of fish. I could not fish a day without mine !
After 65 years of fishing multiple species of freshwater fish this rod is “must have ” to push your fishing talents to the next level !
Plus the great warranty on all models you just can’t go wrong with a Dobyns rod in your hand ! Get one in your hand you will FEEL THE DIFFERENCE!!

I think this rod is the most versatile in the DX spinning lineup. It’ll throw big creature baits, brush hogs, worms, small jigs, but as mueller says itS excellent for long casts with small swimbaits on finicky bass in clear water situations. Because of the superb tip, you can launch small baits, 5 inch senkos will cast a mile. Balance is great. Backbone excellent. Home Run of a rod. Best in class.

As Mr Muellers videos exemplify, this is a MUST have big smallmouth rod. If you fish deep clear water for big brown bass where casting distance and being able to set at a distance is a must this is your rod. I have taken three smallmouth in the 6lb class with this rod from current (river) in recent years. My go to for fishing my beloved XZone Swammers (big ones). Fishes best with 12Lb or heavier braid. Superb smallie rod. My truck doesn’t leave the driveway without it. Balances out superbly with a 3000-4000 sized reel. Letter er’ rip. This rod covers water with power to spare.
