The Fury 705cb is an awesome rod! It works great for jerkbaits, traps, 1.5 squarebills and other shallow to mid range cranks. It is light weight and well balanced. You can’t beat this rod for the money! My fishing partner tried mine out and it only took him about 30 seconds to say “I got to get me a couple of these.”

I had reasonable expectations when I bought this Fury and took the price point into consideration. I knew it would be good but when I received it and saw the quality of the build I was amazed. After slapping a reel on it and fishing it I was flat blown away. This quality and performance for 109.99 ? I have added two other Furys but this rod was the first that proved to me you can get a heck of a lot more for what you pay these days. Outstanding rod ! Thank you Dobyns Rods.

I’ve used various models of crank rods for jerkbaits and when I got the 705CB I retired all the rest. Don’t let the $109 price point fool you, this rod holds up to any other ripping rod out there. Perfect for Staycee 90’s, but I use it for pretty much all my jerkbaits now. Also works really well for more open water lipless baits, however I opt for the Champion 765CB when throwing in cover or grass.

If you are on a budget and don’t have the money to spend on a high end cranking stick, this is the rod for you! This is the best squarebill rod ever made in my opinion and can easily handle everything up to 10 foot diving cranks and 1/2 ounce lipless baits. It has the parabolic bend that you want in a cranking rod but also is graphite, which has enough backbone to pull fish out of thick cover and helps you feel every stump or rock you bump into. The graphite also helps with ripping these kinds of baits out of grass and loads up perfectly on mean reaction strikes.

This was my first Dobyns rod, and is still one of my absolute most used and favorite rods. I have used it for everything from 3/16 oz. Lucky Craft Pointer 65 jerkbaits, pointer 78, pointer 100s, as well as 1/4oz – 5/8oz lipless crankbaits, wakebaits, medium diving crankbaits as well as 1/2 oz poppers, whopper plopper 90s, and even a Spro BBZ-1 Rat (1/2oz size). To me the sweet spot is 3/8-1/2 oz, but it definitely throws above and below that by 1/8oz very comfortably. I personally would not throw anything over 3/4 oz. on it.
It has an absolutely perfect action to it that really limits how many fish you lose on small treble hook baits and is still plenty powerful. So much fun to fish with, provides great feedback from vibrating lures, and a real pleasure to cast as it loads well and slingshots baits out there effortlessly. I like my Champion 704cb quite a bit, but I think I actually prefer the taper, balance, handle and way this rod fishes even more. For the price, don’t even bother looking for a better rod or deal for a do it all crankbait rod as it is simply unbeatable.

By far, one of the best rods I’ve ever purchased. Bought it mainly for square bills, lipless and tops, but, it’s great throwing dark sleeper’s too. Great all around rod for weightless too. I am purchasing more very shortly.

This is my first Dobyns rod and I’ve got to say, MAN is this thing extremely light weight and very well balanced!! Paired with a Shimano Caius B 150HG 7.2:1 this is my dedicated lipless crank rod and when I tell you this is sensitive, it’s an understatement! Can literally feel every shad and tilapia run into my trap and tap it like 3 times each cast, not even close with any other rod I’ve ever owned at this price point. The action is so perfect, when I do get bit, the rod loads perfectly and the bass literally hook themselves with just a small lean into of a hookset. So pleased and happy with this rod, I’ve already ordered a FR 734C for Senkos and Texas rigs, also picking up a FR 806HSB for big swimbaits, and will get another FR 705CB for a chatterbait rod, an FR 735C for frogging and an FR 805FLIP for punching very soon!!!

I use this rod with a Abu Garcia 6600 C4 for fluke and sea bass, and it is the most sensitive rod I have ever fished with. I actually pulled in a double header last week, 1 sea bass and 1 fluke. I love it.

I have 3 Fury FR 705CB rods. I bought my first one from Gary @ the ISE sportsman show in Sac. It’s a square bill 1.5 killer, also throw Hybrid hunter on it. I LOVE this rod!!

I have been using another brand of rods almost exclusively. A number of times I saw Mr. Dobyns in interviews, he seemed so down to earth and concerned about making the best products they can. So I thought I would give them a try. I needed a cranking rod, so I got this one. I didn’t want to do a review until I caught a decent fish on it so I could say how it performed with one. I just caught a 4 pound 4 ounce largemouth bass. The rod really impressed me. I caught it on a dock with a railing. I could not reach the water with my net. A gentleman nearby came to help. So I had to fight it for a while until help arrived. I thought for sure I was going to lose it. Having just 2 hooks of a treble hook barely in its mouth. It jumping and doing what they do to get off. But there was enough bend in the rod to keep constant pressure on this bass so it could get landed. I can’t say how impressed I am with this rod. I highly recommend it. If you fish anything with treble hooks, you need this rod.
