The Fury 705cb is an awesome rod! It works great for jerkbaits, traps, 1.5 squarebills and other shallow to mid range cranks. It is light weight and well balanced. You can’t beat this rod for the money! My fishing partner tried mine out and it only took him about 30 seconds to say “I got to get me a couple of these.”

I had reasonable expectations when I bought this Fury and took the price point into consideration. I knew it would be good but when I received it and saw the quality of the build I was amazed. After slapping a reel on it and fishing it I was flat blown away. This quality and performance for 109.99 ? I have added two other Furys but this rod was the first that proved to me you can get a heck of a lot more for what you pay these days. Outstanding rod ! Thank you Dobyns Rods.

I’ve used various models of crank rods for jerkbaits and when I got the 705CB I retired all the rest. Don’t let the $109 price point fool you, this rod holds up to any other ripping rod out there. Perfect for Staycee 90’s, but I use it for pretty much all my jerkbaits now. Also works really well for more open water lipless baits, however I opt for the Champion 765CB when throwing in cover or grass.

If you are on a budget and don’t have the money to spend on a high end cranking stick, this is the rod for you! This is the best squarebill rod ever made in my opinion and can easily handle everything up to 10 foot diving cranks and 1/2 ounce lipless baits. It has the parabolic bend that you want in a cranking rod but also is graphite, which has enough backbone to pull fish out of thick cover and helps you feel every stump or rock you bump into. The graphite also helps with ripping these kinds of baits out of grass and loads up perfectly on mean reaction strikes.

This was my first Dobyns rod, and is still one of my absolute most used and favorite rods. I have used it for everything from 3/16 oz. Lucky Craft Pointer 65 jerkbaits, pointer 78, pointer 100s, as well as 1/4oz – 5/8oz lipless crankbaits, wakebaits, medium diving crankbaits as well as 1/2 oz poppers, whopper plopper 90s, and even a Spro BBZ-1 Rat (1/2oz size). To me the sweet spot is 3/8-1/2 oz, but it definitely throws above and below that by 1/8oz very comfortably. I personally would not throw anything over 3/4 oz. on it.
It has an absolutely perfect action to it that really limits how many fish you lose on small treble hook baits and is still plenty powerful. So much fun to fish with, provides great feedback from vibrating lures, and a real pleasure to cast as it loads well and slingshots baits out there effortlessly. I like my Champion 704cb quite a bit, but I think I actually prefer the taper, balance, handle and way this rod fishes even more. For the price, don’t even bother looking for a better rod or deal for a do it all crankbait rod as it is simply unbeatable.

By far, one of the best rods I’ve ever purchased. Bought it mainly for square bills, lipless and tops, but, it’s great throwing dark sleeper’s too. Great all around rod for weightless too. I am purchasing more very shortly.
