For me this rod is all about control. I generally use “2-power” rods mostly for Great Lakes smallmouth fishing, but when the wind kicks up, or fishing in heavy current, this rod becomes my chief player for tubes and small swimbaits. When fishing where the line is out at long distances, and the elements are against you, this is a rod you need to take up line quickly, get good solid hooksets, and keep control of wild smallmouth in less than ideal conditions.
