LOVE this rod. As a Great Lake smallie fisherman this is my most versatile rod. Great for chunky tubes and heavier dropshots. I have landed smallmouth up to 6.5 lbs and the rod has performed flawlessly. Very sensitive with a perfect taper and the right amount of power for hooksets. The rod also excels with shakey head, Neko rigs, and wacky Senkos.I also own the 701 and 762 and they are excellent but the 702 is the most versatile in the lineup IMO.

This is a great “power” drop shot rod and is what I have tied on mine most of the year. Most of my drop shotting is around cover like brush piles and this rod has the light tip to detect bites without making fish drop the bait when fishing vertically, but it still has enough backbone to move them out of the cover. Works well with a light shaky head and other finesse presentations. It is also a great rod to throw a shad rap or similar lightweight finesse crankbaits.

I bought this rod for originally for dropshotting, which it was perfect for. But it turns out it also makes a great rod for swimming grubs in open water. I caught a lot of fish up to 6 pounds this past season on this rod and felt it had plenty of power to control even the toughest pre-spawn smallies!!!

The most awesome Shakey head rod nuilt with the great sensitivity and plenty of backbone when its needed. The perfect tip for skipping whacky worms under docks as well

I love my Champion 702 great rod for drop-shotting and dart heads. If you use those techniques you need to try this rod.

The Champion 702SF is the center piece of my finesse game. Shaky heads, Dropshots, and Hair Jigs…..that’s where this rod really shines for me. Pair it with light braided line and a flruorocarbon leader and all Mr. Bass has to do is breathe on your bait and you will know he’s there!
