This has quickly become one of my favorite rods. Somehow I was sleeping on purchasing this rod. I had purchased over a dozen other Dobyns rods before I purchased the 734, but now I own 4 of them. As others have said the 734 is extremely versatile. I have yet to find a technique that this rod does not do well with. I have thrown poppers, buzzbaits, spinner biats, 3/8 oz chatters, swim jigs, texas rigs, and jigs on this rod. Any time I fish out of a friends boat I grab all of my 734’s and rig them up because they are so versatile.
Great rod and should be in everyone’s lineup.

The closest do-all rod I’ve ever owned.

That’s why I have 2 of these and probably end up with a couple more. The 734 H is about the most perfect all around rod I’ve ever picked up. Actually, it is the most perfect. Its not when you handle it off the water though it feels balanced and light in hand but its when you are fishing it. I don’t believe in a rod fully until I can fish with it and this rod fishes beautifully. Buzzbaits, topwaters, spinnerbaits , even Jerkbaits. I plan to use one of them as a big worm rod as well. Its just a fantastic rod. The hype isn’t hype, this is the real deal folks.

Most versatile rod on the market. It is first line for swim jigs, spinnerbaits, chatter baits in grass, super spooks, medium swim baits, ripping traps from grass, swimming worms, buzz baits. It does fine for pitching and skipping and can fill in for bigger square bills if needed

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this rod. Back in 2016 I started out using it for pitching 1/2oz Chatterbaits on reed edges… absolute dream. Then I switched it to a 1/4oz texas rigged swimbait setup for the slop. Oh My God what a match!!!! Slings those light T-rigged plastics a mile, and perfect tip for pinning them in the thick pads and rice in Northern Minnesota.
This rod setup alone won me multiple club tournaments.
Then I let my wife try it out. Had to buy another setup for her that week, but with a lefty reel.
Jeremy Watney –
This rod is a do it all rod. It allows you change techniques and have confidence you have the right rod in your hand. When you are limited to the amount of rods you can bring this one covers it all. It is though, the best spook rod on the market.
Ryan Diatte –
This rod is always in my arsenal when I fish as a co-angler. I use this rod for smaller swimbaits, buzzbaits, vibrating jigs, senkos, the list goes on and on. If I could only have one rod, this would be it!
Jason Janicsek –
At any given time there are 3 of these on my front deck. Great spinnerbait, spook, horny toad, buzzbait, Texas rig and swim jig rod. Not much that this rod isn’t suited to throw, get one or three!!
Wil Dieffenbauch –
This is a must have all purpose rod. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, texas rigs, jika rigs, jigs, senkos, etc. Just about anything. Incredible skipping rod. Absolutely love this rod.
Dustin Tacker –
The best rod ever made for any type of walking bait! Add the supreme versatility of this rod to that and you have extreme value! Spinnerbaits, Swim Jigs, Buzzbaits, Swimbaits… This rod can do it all!
Steve Williams –
When I am looking for a reaction bite with swim jig, spinnerbait, buzzbait, soft swimbait, ripping traps in grass, super spook or other walking bait this is the rod I grab. It has the right tip to be able to work the bait, allow the fish to inhale the bait and keep them hooked but still plenty of power to get them in the boat. It also helps when covering big flats, long points, bluff walls, etc when you need just a little more distance.
My favorite use is throwing a PTL swinging hammer around grass, docks, sea walls, etc. It is the PERFECT rod for that bait. It will also handle jigs, Texas rigs, big senkos and a variety of other baits. Like others said, it is VERY versatile.

You want to talk money well spent? The 734C is an all around work horse. If you are on a tight budget, are a co-angler or are just starting the sport, the 734C is the rod for you. The 734C offers great feel, balance, quality and versatility all wrapped up into one. This rod can handle techniques ranging from Carolina Rigs, small swim baits, spinner baits, buzz baits, swim jigs, jigs, Texas rigged worms, and top water walking baits.

Like a Swiss Army Knife, the 734 is the most versatile rod in the Champion lineup. When someone asks which rod” do I get first?”, this is always my recommendation. What all does the 734 do well? Lipless cranks, square bills, spinner baits, flipping, top water, buzz bait, carolina rig, swim jigs, dragging football jigs, 5″ Bull Shads, 6″ hollow belly swim baits and just about anything else you can think of. This is my go-to, do-ti-all rod that never leaves my boat. No arsenal is complete without one.

To reiterate what Mr. Dobyns said. This is by far the most versatile rod in the lineup. I always have three rigged up on the deck. It’s my go to spinnerbait, buzz bait, trap, swim jig, chatter bait and gunfish rod. They also do double duty with T-rigs and jigs when I need them.

There are not enough great things I can say about this rod! my favorite thing to do with it is throw 1/4oz swim jigs but you really can do anything with this rod. When I talk to people about my Dobyns rods eventually the question of “so which one should I get?” comes up and I always say the same thing, GET THIS!!!

I originally made this rod for throwing Super Spooks and It’s still best I’ve ever used. But, the 734C is the most versatile rod in our entire line. Great for Carolina Rigs, small swim baits, spinner baits, buzz baits, my favorite trap rod in the grass, and many more techniques. It works good for jigs and Texas rigged worms too. We have better overall jig rod, but when you’re wanting a rod that does a little of everything or wanting to keep rod numbers down, it’ll fish jigs fine. This is the “extra” rod I always carry when in tournaments because I can do so much with it. Same blank in the 734C Split Handle and it just depends on whether you like split or full handle.
