People will try to tell you to get the DX742— don’t do it. This is the ultimate drop shot rod, vertical presentation as well as target casting around docks or cover, it’ll out performer the 742 at that. I’ve thrown senkos, hair jigs, spider grubs, 1/4 and 3/8 drop shots, small swimbaits, all without issue on this rod. Super sensitive as you would expect from any Dobyns rod. Superb balance.

I purchased this rod in February because I was looking for an ultra sensitive dropshot rod for an affordable price. I was so pleased I bought a second one identical to it for ned rig fishing. These rods are very light and comfortable. I will be converting my entire arsenal over to Dobyns moving forward. Great product at a fair price!

This is my first DX rod, and after having used it for a couple weeks and catching 20+ fish on it, I love it! I really find it excels at the 1/4oz total weight and I have been dropshotting with 1/8-3/16oz plus a 4″ finesse worm and the sensitivity is noticeably better than my champion rods, and really lets you feel a lot of little bites that you might not have otherwise. I have thrown up to 3/8oz poppers on it, but wouldn’t put any more weight on it than that, and it really is more of a 1/8-3/8 rod for me. It has a good amount of give in the tip and while it is a finesse rod, it is still quite powerful and didn’t worry me at all pulling in a 3lber. Really nice casting and fish fighting ability and the sensitivity makes this a real weapon.

My favorite rod. As mentioned in other reviews, be it drop shots or shaky heads- this is the perfect rod. I can’t say enough about this rod, I am always excited to use it. Slowly, but surely, I am replacing all of my rods with Dobyns, and this the reason why.

The DX 702SF is a drop shot, shakey head fishing machine. Super sensitive, outstanding balance and great attention to detail in this rod. You will not be wanting to fish with anything else after you try this one!

I consider the DX702SF the perfect drop shot rod for tourney fishing. Fishing for deeper smallmouth in the Columbia River’s current requires a rod that is sensitive, yet not too light, and capable of handling heavier drop shot weights up to 3/8 and 1/2 ounce sizes. The 702 is extremely sensitive, perfectly balanced, and has the right action for dropshotting; as well as other finesse techniques. It matches up nicely with a 2500 size spinning reel and fluorocarbon line, or a braid to fluorocarbon setup. I also use this rod, and the stouter DX703, for other finesse techniques, such as flick shaking, shakey heads, weightless stick baits, and tube or grub fishing. These spinning rods will not disappoint.

I live in missouri and fish one of the most powerful summertime drop shot lakes in the world (Table Rock Lake). As soon as I used this rod I could right away feel how well balanced this rod is with a 2500 series spinning reel and as soon as I hooked up with the first fish I immediately fell in love. The power and sensitivity of this rod is unsurpassed. Thanks Dobyns rods it’s all I will ever use again on my drop shotting.
