Got the rod yesterday.
Immediately put a Daiwa Exceller LT 1000 and some 6lb line.
Caught a 13-14 inch bass
20-25 bluegill
And a 2 surprise 4-5 lb channel cats while bluegill fishing. I didn’t question the rods ability once to handle these larger fish. It did it with ease.
The rod did exactly what it’s suppose to do. My buddy was using Shakespeare ugly stick and only caught 1 dinky bluegill compared to my 20-25 (I lost count). This lake we were fishing is known for people getting skunked. People around me were asking me what I was using. To their surprise I was using the same bait as they were. Night crawlers. Nearly everyone around were skunked besides my buddy and his 1 blue gill (he did manage to catch a 3-4lb cat before we left) I don’t doubt the reason for my success over these people was the sensitivity that rod gave me over the rods everyone else was using. The bait had nothing to do with it. Everyone else’s worm was getting eaten and they couldn’t even feel the fish. I on the other hand could feel every single tiny bite. I even caught a 1-2 inch bluegill, and felt the bite. My St Croix Panfish could not do this.
This rod has more backbone and sensitivity than both my TFO trout and panfish II and St Croix panfish.
I already plan to buy another in 7’4 light for river white bass fishing back in Tennessee when I get out of the marines next year and pulling some Slab Crappie in the thick stuff. I don’t doubt it could be used as an open water bass rod as well. This rod is extremely versatile and trout/panfish is not all it can do.
I will say the UL is on the heavier side of UL, but it’s a very versatile stick.
SoCal is hard fishing. Especially freshwater and this rod greatly increased my chances of catching fish. 5/5 stars.

If you like casting to crappie or bass, this rod is excellent in that regard. I have mine paired with a Vanford C200S and its a balanced, super light weight combo. I can hold this rod all day long and feels excellent in the hand. 6’7″ is the perfect length for making a 40-50ft. whipping cast out to that brushpile or even further with an 1/8th ounce jig. Ive caught a 7lb. bass with this rod as well so it holds up to whatever bites your line. I use 6lb. fluro or 10 lb. light braid.
