Last week my son and I went with a guide for a springtime bass trip in Texas. The guide suggested we use his spinning equipment for our trip. He pulled out a handful of Dobyns SSMs with Vanford reels. Voodoo magic in your hand! The rod is well balanced, has excellent backbone and a nice, fast tip. Zero issues casting baits and no issues at all with the 30 largemouth we landed that morning. Setting the hook feels smooth and easy… it feels like you are in perfect control the entire time… from the cast through boating the fish. We fished swimbaits on lighter line and felt more in control than ever. I was a little concerned about the micro sized guides, but they were smooth and easy, gave us NO issues at all. I am a convert. I returned from our trip, got online and bought a few SSM’s. Your mileage may vary, but I doubt it. I had the chance to actually use one of the best set ups I could imagine. Now, I own several of that exact set up.

I am huge fan of baitcasting. Sometime, I use spinning for crappies, perch, panfish, etc. I usually have guest who fish with me. Most of the time, they doesn’t know how to use baitcast. About month ago, I brought this rod and Shimano Stradic Ci+. It is perfect combo. It is light. My dad use my rod. He cast so far with light cast. He was shocked that he can feel every fish bite even light nibble. He really want one. It is best rod he ever touch. Now I know what I will get for dad’s Christmas present.

I absolutely love this rod and think we Dobyns should offer micro guides on the champion series also. I see considerable gain in distance in my casts even with a light weight shaky head. Can cast so far it’s almost too far. lol. Super sensitive rod I absolutely love!!
