Product Description

The Dobyns Champion XP Swimbait, Mag Topwater, and A-Rig Rods represent a collection of technique-specific fishing rods engineered specifically for heavy-duty, big bait slinging, trophy hunters. Designed by legendary tournament angler Gary Dobyns, this sub-series within the iconic Champion XP lineup is purpose-built to handle the immense physical demands of casting massive lures and fighting trophy-sized fish. By balancing brute lifting power with remarkable sensitivity, these rods eliminate the cumbersome, "broomstick" feel often associated with heavy-line applications.

FEATURES:

  • High modulus graphite blanks
  • Fuji Alconite Guides

I use this rod for Swimbaits and A-Rigs. Great rod.

An absolute workhorse. I throw 2.5 oz glides on mine just about everyday. 5 honestly feels heavy for the rod. It’ll do it but I’ll lob it. Will bomb 2.5 though. Had it for a year now and it hasn’t complained once. Does great with alabama rigs as well.

I actually have the Test Cork version of this Rod and all I can say is I wish I had this cork on more of my Rods, particularly the Rods I use for reaction baits. That said, I'm a big A-Rig guy and this is by far the best I've ever owned. Very light in hand and very well balanced. I've been out on several trips and I was able to toss my Rigs pretty much all day long without getting c...

Great Rod, length is very manageable for throwing mid size glide baits and big soft plastics. My go to. Paired with a curado k 300 or tranx 300. I also use it to creep bottom with mid size huds and other mid size swimbaits. Will be spooling braid soon for mag top waters.

This rod is pretty amazing. Really like the cork but the amazing part is casting the A rig. If you pay attention you can totally save your arms as all it takes is a flip of the lower arms and wrist. No more burning out your whole upper arms and back. But you have to make conscious effort to cast that way. Thank you Dobyns for saving my old back.

I love the 867 for throwing heavier swimbaits like the Deps 250 or 8-inch Spro BBZ, it has fantastic sensitivity, strength, and fish-holding ability. It is just not the right rod for me as I primarily fish from a float tube. The handle on this one is super long and really gets in the way. Wish there was a similar rod with a shorter handle like the rest of the series.

The 908 is so amazing I purchased two . My first one I bought because of the 8z to 30z lure weight so I can effectively throw big Swimbaits like the 10.5 Mother and the 14.4 Dead twitch without overloading the rod . I bought number 2 after I ve caught Blue Fin Tuna up to 60 # that the rod handled. The tip is unreal , I can cast a sardine farther than most other anglers and also it handles la...

I love the versatility of this rod. It makes throwing “larg(er) baits more comfortable. 6” Bullshad Glide baits Line through swimbaits Umbrella rigs It’s even sensitive enough to Carolina Rig with.

A fantastic rod for throwing many baits. One thing it excels at is throwing heavy (3/4oz-1.25oz head plus trailer) chatterbaits in deeper water. Casts them great and keeps fish pinned
