I have been using the dobyns fury 733 for a couple months now. It is fantastic. I use jigs, top water, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, and smaller soft plastic swim baits on it. Even threw a s-waver 168 to see what would happen and it actually handled it pretty well on a softer cast. Love it, I actually got a dobyns Sierra rod for my spinning rod. I am currently looking at a dobyns fury swimbait rod.

Excellent feel, sensitivity, and all around fishability. competes with rods well beyond its price range.

This was my first Dobyns rod. I have since bought 2 other rods(in the Champion series)
I use this rod for topwater and weightless senkos. It will throw a spook a mile. You can get a good distance with a weightless senko also. The sensitivity is awesome for the price point.. I can not believe it is only 109 bucks.
I have it paired with a Shimano Curado I and spooled with 50lb braid. ( use braid to leader) The rods handles it with ease

So last year this time I was introduced to the furry lineup, actually a 795 but fell in love with the feeling. Ended up picking up this rod paired to a citica 200hg and 12lb tear. I couldn’t test it for a few months due to major knee surgery but the first out in a boat I stuck a 4lber out of a tree off a jig and drove that hook home. After that it was a evergrowing passion. Most of my best fish came off this rod and well I just can personally say I’ve abused this rods railing from throwing senkos to smaller swimbaits. Ended up throwing a jerk bait on it and kept a 5lber pinned no problem. I love this rod and suggest it to all my buddies.

This rod is absolutely awesome and can be used for a wide variety of techniques. It is very well crafted, light and balanced to perfection as all Dobyns rods are. You will not find a better rod in this price range. I will be adding more Fury rods to the many Champion and Champion Extreme rods I already own. Thank you Gary…I will not fish with anything else !!!!

I have fished with this Fury rod extensively for the past month. My opinion, you will not find a more sensitive rod on the market in this price range. Handles jigs, frogs and small swimbaits with ease.

I’m a die hard St Croix fan but after talking with Paul Mueller in depth I decided to try Dobyns. On Pauls recommendations and finding Dobyns Rods at Danbury Bait and Tackle I opted for the Fury 733C Medium Heavy due to the specifications of lure and line weight and the wide variety recommended techniques I can cover a lot of various fishing scenarios that are required in Connecticut. The rod handle/grip are very comfortable. The real seats are very strong. Ascetics are pleasing and the rod guides appear to be very durable. I attached a Diawa Zillion reel with 30lb Power Pro. I tied on a Ima Little Stick which is a stocky top water lure and casted it. To my surprise the 7’3″ rod sailed that lure over 100 feet into the wood. Upon untangling it I headed to the river for som practice casts. Control of lure placement was excellent. I haven’t had a chance to actually fish with it yet due to a knee injury but I’m hoping to soon. As of right now I have to give the 733C a big thumbs up. I do alot of winter and spring striper fishing in the Connecticut and Housatonic rivers through the winter and early spring and have a lot of faith that this rod will handle the big girls with no problem. I’ll next be looking for finesse rods for my lighter lures and drop shotting and have no reason not to go right to a Dobyns.

After a lot of research and talks on the phone with the guys at Dobyns I decided to buy the 734C champ. I received mine yesterday and all I can say is wow! Extremely versatile rod and the balance is top notch. I have mine paired with a Daiwa Tatula and it balances a half inch above the threads. Will be buying more dobyns in the future. Thanks Gary and the guys!
