Been using a Champion 733C for quite a while now and was my go to rod for 1/4 and 3/8 ounce jigs.
Finally upgraded to an Extreme 743 and it has surpassed my wildest expectations.
In Southern California, if you’re catching fish at 20 feet, you’re fishing ‘shallow.’ When it comes to fishing deeper than that and being able to telegraph bites, this rod is nuts. Highly sensitive, high responsive, and that perfect taper to make sure you drive hooksets home.
But, it can also double as a rod for other techniques, especially a standard 5″ Senko or heavier Texas Rig duties.
The extra length provides leverage for hooksets, and can increase your casting distance as well.
DX 743C FH? Don’t leave the launch ramp with out it on the deck.

I Guide the Great Lakes region for Smallmouth Bass. Gin clear waters that demand
long casts, acute sensitivity and plenty of backbone to drive a hook home at a distance.
Whether it be a swim jig, grub, mini swimbait, or spinnerbait , the DX 743 is up to the task.
I have handled Smallies up to 7 lbs on this rod with confidence. The 743 is one stick I could not do without.

Finesse jigs catch lots of finicky bass in clear cold water, but the bites are very light and they will drop a bait as quickly as they pick it up. The DX743C can fish a lot of baits, but it matches up absolutely perfectly with finesse jigs. Casts them a mile and you feel every pebble, limb, and nibble. The extra length of this 7’4″ rod improves your hook set and landing ratio as well with jigs. Sensitivity is paramount with jig fishing and this is as sensitive as they come.

The better question would be what can’t this rod do… It’s incredibly sensitive making it a great rod to use for jigs, senkos, heavier drop shot rigs, texas rigs, you name it! It’s also an awesome rod to use for buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, and my absolute FAVORITE rod for throwing a spook on!

The dx 743 c has become my go to finesse jig rod. For 3/16-5/16 oz jigs/ t rigs this rod shines. The sensitivity is awesome, plenty of tip to throw lighter rigs and still enough power to sink the hook on the hookset. Spool it with some lighter line for deeper water finesse jigging and you will feel bites you never felt before
