I paired up my Champion Extreme 742C SH casting rod with an Aldeberan50. OMG it is the best combo ever.. I can throw a 1/16oz or even weightless worm a mile. The sensitivity is insane and setting the hook with this rod is so impressive. Plenty of backbone with an amazing sensitivity. I have found the perfect setup.. this is by far my new favorite number one go to. You won’t be sorry. Big Ed!

Incredible rod! Super sensitive, sweet tip but a with backbone. The best rod for plastic weightless like Yamamoto Ika or senko.

The perfect rod for finesse presentations with a casting reel. Super sensitive yet has enough backbone to handle bigger fish. I mainly use it for shaky heads but it works great for a drop shot also.

This rod was really surprising. I bought it as a finesse rod, and it had more power in the backbone than I expected. It fishes similar to the DX743SF and has become my light wire jig rod for finesse jigs in the 3/16-7/16oz range with light wire hooks like the Eakins Jig, Omega Jigs, finesse football jigs, etc. around docks and deep water brush piles. It has a great tip for skipping light jigs and pitching them to docks and cover while maintaining the backbone to set the hook on deeper docks and move fish out of brush piles. My other favorite bait on this rod is a shaky head. Anytime you are fishing light line on deep clear lakes, this is a must have rod to me.

I fish a beefed up drop shot a lot in Texas around stumps and trees, using 10-15 lb test and rigging the worm weedless Texas style on the hook, with 1/8 to 1/2 oz weights. Either pitching to shallow targets or casting it in deep water, the DX742 is super sensitive and so well balanced that it is easy to fish all day. Enough power to bring in big fish, yet enough tip to cast light rigs with baitcast reels and play good fish on lighter line.
