PUNCHING PRO! So, I was curious to try this new style of 735. Originally I thought it could be a good smaller style frog rod, I.e. smaller pad crashers and such. BUT, I was fishing the california delta, and set it up with punching gear. HOLD ON! the super sensitive tip, and softer rod can feel the fish breath on your lure. The bite’ even on the fall, is so pronounced, by the time you set the hook, they have it so good, they’re not throwing it. also, the taper on this rod sticks em without having to send em to the moon. and even though its a medium heavy, the blank is stout. You can pull em outa the thickest cheese and completely control fish without a worry.
Feel everything, pins fish easily, hauls em outa the junk. I don’t think you could ask for more in a punching rod.
did I mention the balance on this rod makes it feel like its almost not there?
also, for those who don’t have much to punch.
Buzzbaits.
I’ve been throwing my buzzbaits on it lately. and again, the action on this rod is incredible. its in their throat every single time!
Go get this rod! It’s a must have.

I have almost completely converted my rod inventory to Dobyns Rods. They are simply the best and their warranty is hassle free. This 735 is amazing for all types of applications. The latest use for me has been A-Rigs and small to medium size swim baits. It’s perfectly balanced and the fierce responsiveness is what I need for catching more fish. I’m sold on all the Dobyns Rod lines…they are the best!!

An absolutely great rod for the price point. I put this rod through hell last summer and was super impressed. Really fast tip, and great backbone, this stick has replaced rods twice it’s price in my arsenal. Plus, it looks pretty awesome on your deck ;).

This rod is an all around beast. You can flip/pitch Ta-rigs and jigs into heavy cover. Pull fish out of thick mats when frog fishing. It is also long enough to pull a lot of slack in which makes for a great Carolina rig rod. The balance and sensitivity is unmatched and it is the best all around heavy cover rod.

This rod is a beast. If you want a great all around rod for t-rigs, jigs, and frogs the is the one for you. It’s backbone is insane for the amount of tip it has. The sensitivity is unmatched by any other rod company. I send 1-2 pounders lunching up out of the water all day with this. If you want a meat stick this is it.

I choose the Dobyns Rods 634CB (6’3″) for Jerkbait fishing. When I move, twitch or jerk the bait I’m moving the rod from 7 o’clock to max 8 o’clock position down to a 6 o’clock position. The shorter 634CB makes this easier without having the tip hit the water. I think it allows the angler to do more types of cadences with the rod which makes the bait do more and entices the fish to bite. For me the Shorter 6’3″ rod is perfect for this style of fishing and makes it easier for me to control the bait. This is very common method how anglers in the Midwest work a Jerkbait…I do know the West Coast they prefer the 704 CB (7′ 0″) for working jerkbaits and I have used that rod for different situations like long casting open water. Normally we are working very close to docks and over small brush piles so it makes it easier for me and my preferred choice is the 634 CB. Hope this helps you select the best Dobyns Rod for your jerkbait fishing needs.

Notice right off the bat before adding a reel the balance in my hand was perfect. The extra inch on the handle gives it big rod feel but the tip allows for great presentation. The perfect jig rod or Carolina rig. Flagship of my building arsenal!!

For the last three years, I have had 2 735’s strapped to the deck of my boat. In our weed-choked local lakes, it has been an outstanding search tool for frogs, toads, buzzers, and 5″ swim baits. Using 50 or 65lb braid, I can make long casts and still set the hook. In close quarters, the 735 is still accurate enough to skip a flappin’ shad or Bronzeye frog under a dock.

This rod has the perfect discription. It performs equaly well as a frog rod or pitchin stick. You can throw any frog a country mile with the soft tip and horse them out of cover with the perfect amount of backbone. Balanced just right I used it all day two days in a row and it never got had any arm fatigue.

If you like to throw frogs then this is the rod for you. The 735C is an all around work horse. I use this rod for open water frogging, heavy jigs, and large top water baits. The rods is balanced so it won’t wear you out after a long day on the water and is sensitive that you won’t miss a bite. It’s also great for small swimbaits and flipping.
