Incredibly versatile rod, soft plastic, big top water and even deep diving crank baits, I have fished them all with complete confidence in this rod. Light, perfectly balance and strong as all get out! If I could only fish with one rod in a tournament this would be the one. Best value to performance in the Dobyns line up.

This was my 1st Dobyns & it made me a firm believer I won’t use anything else. 734 is what everyone says. A do it all, there’s nothing under an ounce I’d say it CANT DO. I could list all the techniques i’ve used it for, and it is so balanced, and feels very very good on my Shimano SLXDC paired with 15LB FC line. I started out using this for jigs, and I downsized it for a spinner baits and some chatters and I fell in love! It handles well, sensitivity is great, for the money and for the customer service as well as the build you can’t ask for anything more this definitely should be the first bait caster somebody ever purchases. I can attest to the fact that when I started out with a bait caster, it wasn’t too pleasant finding something that worked and would handle well is a challenge so if anybody is relatively new or at that intermediate level or even advanced I suggest picking this up!

No doubt my favorite rod in the Dobyns line up. So versatile, Buzzbait, spinner bait, 1/2oz jig, Carolina Rig and so on. I am a Coach of a HS fishing team, and I always tell my anglers if they can only buy one rod this is the one to buy.

The incredibly versatile DC 734C is my go-to rod when guiding clients. I don’t want to have 20 rods on my deck for a guide trip. With the 734C, I don’t’ have to. Hard baits or soft, topwater or on the bottom, the 734C can handle just about anything. It allows me to quickly make lure changes for my anglers, without having to waste time digging through the rod locker. I can figure out what the fish want faster, which equates to more fish for my clients. For the same reasons, this rod is always on my deck when fishing tournaments. It is a perfect rod for bank fishing as well. Lightweight. Well balanced. Killer action. Feels great in your hand. Don’t leave home without it!

I patiently waited several months while researching my first high-end bass rod, settling on the 734c. I couldn’t be happier with my investment. This rod is supremely crafted in every way. I toyed with purchasing a St. Croix AVID or the Dobyns Champion series. The unparalleled warranty and amazing customer service were two heavy hitting factors that drove my decision too. I’ve paired this rod with the Shimano Chronarch MGL. This is as near of a perfect setup as you can get. Backbone and fast tip allows for excellent use with jigs, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and even topwater spooks. I have this setup paired with 12lb P-Line Tactical Fluorocarbon. The rod loads up and casts like a dream. If you are in the market for your first high-end rod, or debating on switching from a different rod manufacturer, I cannot recommend Dobyns Rods enough.

This rod is work horse! Well built, balaned and versatile! Mostly I’ve been flipping creature baits and jigs with it. Even punched a few pads with it. Considerably light rod for its category with little fatigue. I plan on buying two more very soon for spinnerbait and buzzbaits setups. Also I wanted to personally thank Dobyns for supporting veterans and offering a generous 30% discount!

I purchased this rod looking for something to pitch 5/16oz Tex Rigs and 3/8oz jigs around medium cover with 20 pound Super FC Sniper. The tip is perfect for this weight range. The tip is so responsive that you may feel the rod is underpowered. But multiple hook sets with heavy flipping hooks into fives and sixers in cover have convinced me that it has very good setting power in big fish in cold water, (here cold is 50 degrees) and good power to get fish out of medium cover such as standing grass and light brush. I have also thrown 7 and 10 inch worms with 1/4oz weight and the sensitivity with good 16 or 20 pound flourocarbon is good enough to detect strikes and determine structure type. I would not punch 1oz with this rod. For anything over 3/4 oz and heavier cover I go with a 5 and 6 power such as my Champion 735 and Savvy 766.

This rod is the genuine all purpose magician. There isn’t a presentation that this rod can’t handle. Spinnerbaits, Texas rigs, jigs, top water, squarebill cranks. For a co-angler or someone limited by space, this rod will fill the needs of many all in one.
Balance is incredible with a variety of reels, I’ve used it with Shimano, Lews, and Daiwa and all feel effortless when casting or pitching.
This is my go to Texas rig rod. From 1/8 to 3/8, from baby brush hogs to 10 inch worms, from pitching to casting. This rod has been a dream to fish. The sensitivity is amazing, you can feel a slate bottom turn to sand, you can feel a road bed turn to mud. Highly recommended rod.

I dont think I can add much to what the other anglers have already said about this rod. All you need to know if that it is the perfect rod for a mix of techniques, big and small. No matter if your an experienced angler or looking for your first bait casting rod, the 734c will ensure you get the best bang for your buck.
After fishing the 734c all season long it has found a home as my jig and small bait flipping rod. I cant really explain it, all I know is it just feels right

I fish a lot from my own boat, but this year I have been fishing the BASS Opens as a co-angler, the 734C is my most used Dobyns Rod out of all that I own.
