I have been using this rod for my shaky heads along as it doubles up great for a weightless senko presentation and has incredible balance. This rod has great backbone and I never hesitate to throw my bait into thick cover as I know it has the power to get the fish out. The sensitivity of this rod as well is better than any rod you could ever ask for and I feel is a huge necessity to any fisherman a arsenal

I’m not much on using fairy wands so I tried throwing my shakeyheads on a 703C and it was love at first cast. This has been the best casting rod I have used for throwing shakeyheads. I generally throw a 3/16-1/4oz head and this rod spooled with 10-12lb line has made me actually enjoy throwing a shakeyhead where as before I wouldn’t throw one unless I had to because of having to use a spinning rod.

When it comes to rods I want versatility, balance, feel and quality-the 703C delivers. This rod can handle a myriad of baits like, jigs, spinnerbaits, shakey heads, weighted/non-weighted Senkos and even flipping drop shots into heavy cover. It even has a soft enough tip that skipping jigs under docks is a breeze.

I love this rod because I can do so many different things with it. Tubes, senkos, flukes, spinnerbaits, I’ve even used it to throw wakebaits when I was in a pinch. It feels really great in your hand and is perfectly balanced. It’s a great rod for any angler.

I have used this rod for 2 years,. Typically I run 12-15lb fluorocarbon, and use this rod for flukes, senkos, wacky jigs in grass, and finesse jigs. The 703 is lends itself well to many techniques, and it is always be on my front deck.

I have gone through many great rods like Shimano, St. Croix, and Phenix rod. Last years I brought this rod, it blew me away because it is so light and very sensitive. It has great backbone. At beginning, I struggle to hook the fish because it was so sensitive. Hooking the fish is all about timing once fish bite. Once I figure out, I hook every fishes and bring fishes in the boat. I have land lot more monster bass with this rod. Even fish fight in heavy weed, I still can bring fish home especially 7.5 pound. I often use Texas Rig, senko, jig, and light swimbait. I just brought another rod about month ago. I was so exciting when I brought new rod. NO DOUBT, IT IS BEST ROD EVER!

if there was a 10 star review i would give the DC703C a 10…5 doesnt seem like enough!! light, perfectly balanced, strong, very comfortable cork handle. the 703 is extremely versatile as well, if your going to buy 1 Dobyns casting rod this would be my choice.

I caught my current p.b. (5.78lbs) with this rod using it for a dropshot and setting the hook with this thing is so much fun. It’s got a lot of power in reserve beyond the great tip and fought and brought the fish in with no problems. A definite step up in sensitivity from the Fury model. Great for fishing weightless senkos or up to about 1/8oz bullet weights plus 4-5″ worms. Works nicely for small/medium spinnerbaits or even some finesse jigs I’d imagine. A fantastic spinning rod, and a great place to start if you want to be able to fish some finesse exposed hook soft plastics, but still have enough power to easily fish Texas rigged baits where your hook is needing a little extra power to get through the bait on hooksets as well. If you only can get 1 spinning rod in this price range, this is definitely the one!
