The General really love his new Dobyns Rods. “They are so light and well balanced it’s hard to believe.” – says the General. The General is a nickname acquired for a decision made during the final day of a big tournament. After running about 10 minutes back toward where he had fished the first 3 days, he stopped the boat and told the cameraman “I can’t win where I’ve been fishing.” So he turned the boat around and ran to a creek he had not been in and won the event! Somebody said only the General would do that and the name stuck. Ha Ha! The General has a beautiful wife, Amy, married for 31 years with 2 grown children, Christopher and Lindsey.

Started bass fishing at 10 years old and turned to competition at age 19. Joined various clubs and the BASS Nation, earning 8 State Team appearances and competing in 3 BASS Nation National Championships. You can say that I am just like you – working my way along the best I can with the best equipment I can get. Thanks to a Dobyns 705 CB and my favorite squarebill, I qualified for the Bassmaster Classic in 2011. Now I compete primarily in the Bassmaster Opens and do seminars around the east coast. I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned along the way and my passion for Dobyns rods — I can finally feel the fish before they feel me!

I’ve had a passion for fishing my whole life. As a young man I spent my summers at my grandparents cottage, and developed a love of fishing that I still have. I fish tournaments but I really love to fish northern Michigan, Grand Traverse Bay and the lakes around Traverse city. I’m a certified Smallmouth nut and love to catch them. I really like to figure it out; I get the most satisfaction finding fish that nobody knew about. In the winter I do seminars and shot a TV show in November.

Having grown up in North Central Florida and fishing since I could walk, it’s only natural that I feel most at home with a flipping stick in my hands. My passion for bass fishing really began when I was about 7 years old following my dad around the bank of any pond that had water, and really caught fire when I cashed a check in the first tournament I ever fished at the age of 15. I have been fishing tournaments for about 15 years and have had success from the club level up, qualifying for the Bassmaster Weekend Series national championship on Lake Guntersville in 2010. I love plying the tidal waters of the St. John’s river and it’s many fertile tributaries, but grew up on the banks of Rodman Reservoir catching anything and everything that wanted to bite.
